Wataalamu Oil Consultancy Ltd was founded by Dr Frederic Briens who is a petroleum engineer with a 35-year history of professional experience in the oil and gas industry in all parts of the world. Dr Briens has held the highest positions in a number of oil and gas exploration and production companies as well as in well services companies. Dr Briens has spent the years 2015 to present in Kenya working on the exploration, appraisal, and development of the hydrocarbons resources of Kenya within the Turkana, Baringo, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, and other projects linked to the oil and gas industry in Uganda, Tanzania, and Mozambique. During these years, he has identified the need for quality advisory services for a variety of stakeholders such as upstream exploration and production companies that are currently operating in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Mozambique as well as those that are entering or would like to enter the Greater East Africa Region. The acute shortage of specialists in the upstream Oil and Gas sector informed of the need to establish Wataalamu Oil Consultancy Ltd. that does not only offer advisory and consulting services to the clients but also offer East African young upstream professionals a chance to participate in the birth of the oil and gas industry in their own countries.

Mr. Jon Erickson is an oil and gas petroleum engineer with over 35 years of international oil and gas experience in all parts of the world, such as Colombia, Brazil, Australia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, the USA, both onshore and offshore, and in particular in Africa in Algeria, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, and Mozambique. Mr. Erickson was in charge of all field operations in both Uganda and Kenya since 2012, for the execution of the exploration and appraisal activities conducted by Tullow Oil. Mr. Erickson is also leading the deployment of specialized small-scale LNG technologies to assist certain countries in Africa towards an increased energy independence.

Mr. Rob Kayser is an upstream oil and gas production and field manager with over 35 years of hands-on experience internationally. He has worked in offshore and onshore fields in Syria, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Australia, Canada, and in Africa from 2012, in Chad, Madagascar, and Kenya. Mr. Kayser was in charge of all field development and most recently exploration and appraisal activities in Kenya, working back to back with Mr. Jon Erickson. Mr. Kayser was instrumental in the implementation of significant cost-reduction initiatives.

Ms Stella Mitchell is a well-rounded Project Services professional with over 21 years of experience in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry with both EPC contractors and upstream operators. She specializes in project planning & scheduling, cost estimation & valuation, cost control, earned value management, management of change, forecasting, financial modeling & reporting, project management, risk management and compliance.

Ms Mitchell has an excellent international track record including onsite assignments in the Americas, UK, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Cameroon, Chad, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

She holds a duo BS degree in Finance and Civil Engineering.

Ms. Michelle Boit is a petroleum and production engineer with experience in the USA and Africa, namely in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Chad. Ms. Boit was instrumental in the design and delivery of the first oil production project in Kenya. She is skilled to conduct engineering studies as well as supervise the execution of projects in the field.

Mr. Joseph Wachira is a young petroleum engineer coming from the first-ever promotion of petroleum engineers of Kenyatta University Gas and Petroleum Engineering Department, the only one of its kind in East Africa. Mr. Wachira has led the execution of several projects to compile information, calculate oil flow potential, costing studies, and he is the leader of one of the ongoing projects of Wataalamu Oil Consultancy Ltd. regarding the deployment of low-cost oil well services in East Africa.

Ken is an upstream oil and gas expert with both technical and management skills and an extensive experience in East Africa where he was involved in the exploration and appraisal of the oil fields in both Uganda and Kenya. Ken has worked in leadership positions in all aspects of upstream oil and gas, such as seismic acquisition surveys, construction, drilling, logistics, production, HSE, External Affairs, crisis management and compliance. Ken was one of the first Field Operations Managers originating from East Africa and, as such, he has unique skills for moving efficiently forward oil and gas projects in the Greater East Africa region where the upstream industry is not established yet. Ken understands how to work well with East African nationals as well as with local companies and has excellent cost control skills as well as expertise with low-cost operations.

Having started his career with British High Commission in Uganda where he actively participated in hosting the Common Wealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) meetings in 2007 this has developed his knowledge and experience in international diplomacy that is seen in his management style in the Oil and Gas Industry.
